Court Upholds Part Of Eminent Domain

The Missouri Supreme Court is siding with a land owners family and bonus payment as part of the eminent domain law. The court handed down their six to zero decision yesterday upholding part of the eminent domain law.  In 2009, St. Louis County officials used the eminent domain law to obtain 15 acres of land for extending a highway after failing to agree on compensation with the descendants of the original landowner. The family was awarded one-point-three-million-dollars and an additional 650-thousand for the 50-year clause.  In 1904, Albert Novel bought the land now used as the Page/Olive connector of the Highway 141 extension project.
